The 2022 International Hairdressing Awards’ winners announced during the world tour
• Cos Sakkas (UK), Sylvestre Finold (France), Candice McKay (South Africa), Siëro (Spain) and X-presion (Spain) are the five winners of the 2022 International Hairdressing Awards and will be able to collect their awards on May 16that the awards ceremony in Madrid
• The famous hairdresser Robert Lobetta has been recognized with the International Hair Legend of the Year honor award while the International Hair Influencer of the Year award, which recognizes the positive influence and impact in the industry and beyond, and has been awarded to Mustafa Avci (Turkey/USA).
The 2022 International Hairdressing Awards’ winners have been announced during the world tour that the International Hairdressing Awards have done from March 21st to 30th. The winners in the five categories have been revealed personally and by surprise by Mikel Luzea, director and founder, and Sergi Bancells, global ambassador of the awards. Both have been travelling around the world together with their production team to announce personally the awards to the winners. The footage recorded during the world tour will be used for the realization of a docu-reality for television platforms. Also, the annoucements have been streamed live via Instagram.
The winner in the Best International Men’s Commercial Collection has been Siëro (Spain). The award in Best International Women’s Commercial Collection has gone to South African hairdresser, Candice McKay. The Best International Avant-Garde Collection award is for french, London based, Sylvestre Finold. The winner team in the category of International Artistic Team of the Year has been X-presion for third year in a row, the Spanish team who has rocked the hairdressing world with their innovative techniques. And last but not least, the British hairdresser Cos Sakkas, has been crowned International Hairdresser of the Year. The candidacies have been chosen by a jury made up of five renowned hairdressers: Richard Thompson, Gun-Britt Zeller, Sophia Hilton, Paul Gehring and Marcel Montlleó.
Also, the famous hairdresser Robert Lobetta has been recognized with the International Hair Legend of the Year honor award, being the fourth hairdresser awarded with this honorific award, for his career in the profession and for being an indisputable reference for professionals from all over the world. For third year, the organization of the International Hairdressing Awards presents the International Hair Influencer of the Year award, which recognizes positive influence and impact in the industry and beyond, and has been awarded to Mustafa Avci, born in Turkey and based in New York City (USA), who is known for his one-of-a-kind award-winning styling and chic hair artistry, as well as for his inspiring, educational tutorials in social media.
After this world tour, the seven winners will be invited to attend the great night of the hairdressing industry in Madrid, on May 16th, where the International Hairdressing Awards®’ evening will consist again of a purple carpet -the red carpet of global hairdressing-, a catwalk with the most important hairdressing teams of the world, and the awards ceremony, where the seven winners will be crowned.
The world tour: figures
Eleven days of touring, seven cities, seven winner announcements live on Instagram, nine flights (two transoceanic), 25,000 kilometers traveled by plane, more than 1,000 kilometers by car, 6 lost bags (recovered within 24 hours!), 14 fashion outfits, 1,463 gigabytes of audiovisual information on two hard drives, 60 stories on Instagram, 38 posts on Instagram/Facebook, more than 550,000 impressions on social networks (Instagram/Facebook)... and countless doses of enthusiasm, happiness, celebrations and good vibes.
The fourth year
In the fourth year, participation has registered great figures: almost 500 collections from 38 different countries have entered to participate with their photographic work in the categories of Best International Women’s Collection, Best International Men’s Collection and Best International Avant-Garde Collection. In addition, the hairdressers and artistic teams that had been shortlisted to participate in the categories of International Hairdresser of the Year and International Artistic Team of the Year were invited to submit their applications, consisting of a photographic collection and a dossier summarizing their professional career in the last year.
